For a long time now, Mumbai has been home to acclaimed boutiques
like Ensemble, Le Mill and Melange, which offer a
plethora of designer options for women to take their
pick from, but the city has always had a dearth of similar dedicated
destinations for men. Bringing a change to the current scenario is Curato, a
first-of-its-kind multi-designer boutique focused on menswear. Nestled within the lively lanes
of Bandra, this one is the brainchild of marketing professionals Shibani
Bhagat and Tanisha Rahimtoola Agarwal.
As the name suggests, the
boutique showcases a finely curated collective of designers across categories,
stocking everything from apparel, footwear and accessories. Once here, you can
turn to labels like Shift, Khanijo and Doodlage if you are looking for
contemporary silhouettes; Bloni or Antar-Agni for androgynous options; Sahil
Kochhar and Nikhil Thampi for formal wear; and Dhruv Kapoor to make a luxe athleisure
statement. And considering Diwali is right around the corner, a
space that offers a repertoire of ethnic, timeless Indian wear by leading
names like Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Kunal Rawal,
among many others, is more than welcome.
Housed inside a bungalow, the
store boasts of an interior that is just as appealing as its concept—it is
complete with plush, monochromatic upholstery and rooms which combine
storytelling with a unique visual aesthetic. With a deep-rooted motive of
offering a bespoke shopping experience, Curato further aspires to fill the void
in menswear retail by offering pre-ordering and customisation services. Scroll
onwards to have a quick peek at the space.
